lazybear Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I am so looking forward to buying this set although it is a little expensive. Quote
timinchicago Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I ordered this set on the May the 4th promotion and just got around to building it. I can say it is an impressive set, looks great and displays very well. Even non SW LEGO fans are buying this set and it should be a good investment down the road. Quote

timinchicago Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Very true, the word "iconic" gets used quite a bit these days for some rather mundane things, but in this instance it is 100% appropriate as virtually everyone knows, recognizes, and likes R2D2! Quote

I always wondered why Lego never made a R2-D2 model. Now I'm upset that my R2-D2 display piece will lose value because every Tom, **** and Harry will have one. ;-( Quote
stackables Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Might breakdown and buy 2 of these. I usually just buy one star wars set and put it together but this set might be worth keeping one in it package. Quote

deanearp Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 When I was at a Lego store in 8/2012 I saw this set for the 1st time and I thought it was pretty awesome. I've been surprised that I haven't seen it discussed more. I am interested in what the Brickpicker community thinks of this set for investment. Any reason to think it would be a boom? A bust? Thoughts? Quote

IrishGuy66 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 StarWars UCS sets are the Gold Standard here on Brickpicker. Quote
Darth Lego Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 StarWars UCS sets are the Gold Standard here on Brickpicker. IrishGuy66 and I talked about that earlier. Remember that? (: Quote

Well if your lookin for fools gold here, your in the wrong place! Believe me two bills might seem like a lot, (Who am I kidding of course it's a lot of money!) but when this set goes EOL, your money will double!! Quote
deanearp Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Love the set. Really a piece of well engineered LEGO bricks. As with any UCS set, it will get love after it goes EOL. I seem to remember reading somewhere after the original Star Wars that Lucas was surprised that C3-PO and R2-D2 were the leaders in terms of merchandise sales. My feeling is that will we will see the same type of love for this set. I missed it when the set was under $140 in 12/2012--I won't miss it next time!! Quote
stephen_rockefeller Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 New sets = no investment love. Close to EOL = tons of love. That's how it goes. Quote
deanearp Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 New sets = no investment love. Close to EOL = tons of love. That's how it goes. Got it. I sat on the sidlines too long with the Imperial Shuttle and paid the price (pun intended) for doing that. Don't want that to happen again. Quote
lego the hutt Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I really like this set as far as a display set. I feel like star wars theme ships are a dime a dozen. Myself and everyone else has a ton of ships so sets like this are especially nice. It is especially hard to find UCS sets that are not ships. This is one of my favorites. Quote
Wizkid23 Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 It really definitely be a great set to get, even better if you can get it on sale....once it does go EOL, look for this set to start making big increases... It's just a fantastic set in my opinion Quote
