Hello everybody, I got back into lego a few years ago after my 'dark ages', found this site a few weeks ago and frankly got hooked - particularly as I already like buying big expensive sets at sale prices, it makes it a lot easier to justify to the wife if I can call it investing Anyway, I look forward to taking part in your community

Hello everybody,

I got back into lego a few years ago after my 'dark ages', found this site a few weeks ago and frankly got hooked - particularly as I already like buying big expensive sets at sale prices, it makes it a lot easier to justify to the wife if I can call it investing

Anyway, I look forward to taking part in your community

G'day...Welcome to the site.

Just recently stumbled across this site and love the amount of detail, the mature discussion and support the members give each other. I've only gotten back into Lego about a year ago and actually just finished the Imperial Shuttle tonight (the Death Star or Super Star Destroyer is my next build). My wife collects the minifigures, I do all the building! Favourite set built so far would have to be the VW Kombi, so much personality. I was looking at purchasing a second hand Taj Mahal set this week, but having read an informative article on your site recently, I may now proceed with caution! I'm more into building Lego for pleasure rather than investment, but I' m sure I'll pick up some valuable advice by following the forums over the coming months.

Hello, My name is Sean, I am an AFOL, I am 40, I started with Lego when I was about 4, I had Space, and recall having lots of great sets from then, they are all gone now :( When I grew up I moved away from Lego into Tamiya, but for the past 6 years, i started buying Creator and Designer sets for my kids, and then rediscovered Technic. I have 3 young kids that love lego too, my Son Gersen has been doing Creator sets since he was 4, he is now 8, and does Technic at a level that is very admirable, he built the 8043 with me, only forgetting 2 gears! He is now very much into Star Wars sets now, my daughter is 6, she likes Creator and Make & Create, and now wants Friends sets, and my youngest boy Vance loves Cars and is now doing Creator. Sean. PS This is our "Alternatives to Creator" MOCpages: http://www.mocpages.com/mocs.php?id=68387 I hope my signature appears!

Welcome to the site! Those are some great designs, I wish I could do MOCs but I am probably one of the most creatively challenged members of this site lol, that's why I only build sets designed by professionals haha. I really hope you enjoy the site, there is a lot of good info here.

Hello and welcome to BrickPicker, seanoz. Those are some nice 'alternates' on your MOCpages, um, page. I think trying to use only what is available from a single set is tricky but can be a nice challenge if you approach it well enough. I enjoy the Creator sets myself for a number of reasons and even though I may not like all three designs included, I can appreciate them for what they are and the limits the designers had to face.

Thanks guys, Yer, I have not done much since we moved house, it's been a while since I have been doing alternates, so much of our Lego is in storage, so we have not got the space and the environment to do MOC Creator alternates etc. (they can take time, and you need to leave them out and think it over sometimes for days!) so we have just been building and playing. As soon as we find a more permanent place we will be setting up a hobbies room where we will go to work! But until then I am going to build our Star Wars and Friends collection, currently I still want to complete my Creator collection, there are some early sets and some designer sets we want, (some of the larger ones), and also the polybags. Sean
