It's nice to have another set with global demand and not one continent with the vast majority of demand. With the initial retirement value pops,  it prob does help that Lego and other online retailers don't allow some sets to be shipped out of country.

E.g. The 10228 HH was still selling for retail in October / November 2014 at most Euro websites when the US site was sold-out. EBay prices were at $300 at that time compared to the $179 (or so) retail price.

it appears the Tumbler is doing the same as 10228 but with America selling out last.

It's the like 2013-2014 but in reverse.

In the past, i distinctly remember sets like SSD, HH, and many more were gone in the US, and our Euro friends were saying things like, "Well, i'll wait and see, or let me wait until double VIP, or clearance, etc"

Then all of a sudden they were gone in Europe too, and everyone in the US was face-palming wishing they had been given a heads up like that, EVER.

Now 2015 rolls around and the Tower of Orthanc, Red 5, Death Star, Tumbler, At-At, and many others were not only gone from Europe, but actually marked RETIRED on the Lego website all while being relatively available over here.

I have not missed this opportunity.

Bingo!

Europe has become our early warning system. Thanks Europe!

Smyths website here in the UK has been stating that they will be available in stores and online from the 15th of Jan for at least a couple of days now......

Might grab one or two if this proves to be the case.

As long as it means you paid $1 for that Tumbler, there should be no reason to complain, right?

PS: I'm happy to buy that particular Tumbler from you - will pay you 500% ROI :)

This opportunity was a sweet Xmas gift from TLG to those who wanted it. Don't forget Architecture sets, too.

Several calls only resulted in hopes being raised then swiftly dashed. One minute they had it in stock then just as they went to order it was gone. Then according to another they all sold out first thing this morning. Apart from the 10 that were in stock until just before I called the third time.

Now set is retired.

Darn.

Pay the difference on the secondary market, consider the difference a fee for not paying attention in class.

Hehe I hadn't even turned up for class. If it wasn't for my GF buying me 42009 for Xmas I'd still be stuck in my "forgotten all about lego" bubble. Consider me a new transfer, still playing catch up, and by the looks of things it's just getting interesting.

Any chance Tumbler MkII might make an appearance?
