I received my 3 Tumblers from Target.  All were ok. Slight "shelfwear" but that doesn't bother me as it does some other resellers. They were shipped in 2 identical sized boxes. The boxes were skin tight with no extra space in them except head clearance on the box with 1 Tumbler , the other box literally had no extra room on any side. The box with only one Tumbler arrived at my doorstep via UPS and it had been opened and not re-taped shut.  Target uses quality packing tape with the threads in it and good glue so this was no accident that the parcel was opened. Luckily the Tumbler was relatively in good condition and the seals all looked good - I am satisfied.

This one was from Target, a little nicked on the corner but definitely not worth the hassle of returning. Seals were good.

That is certainly acceptable for any kit I buy to resell. Never would I try to return a kit with little damage as that, and I would purchase in store a kit like that.

I think the super hero sets are going to suffer popularity while the star wars movies are being released, which will make this appreciate much slower than expected. This may change slightly if the new Batman vs Superman movie is fantastic but I don't see it rivaling the SW Hype.

I view this as a good 4-5 year hold. Most SW sets I'm looking to sell while the hype train is a movin'.

That all being said I have bought a lot of "hyped" sets and they have appreciated much slower than expected and that gives me caution.

I agree. I only have two for investment, and that is all I'm going for.

I just want to put in my 2 cents... My superheroes sets are hard to move

If you bought the right ones they aren't hard to move at all.......which ones are you talking about specifically? If you buy everything from any theme this will certainly be the case. Not every set is gonna be easy to move.

Why does is gotta be this set vs that set? They can't both be safe bets?

Scarcity and choice. Those of us on limited budgets or with restricted space need to choose our investments carefully and can´t have 20 of everything. The 2 Tumblers Vs 1 DS debate was discussed a few days ago and every day that passes with Tumbler still around pushes the balance that way. Tumbler is now very hard to find outside SAH here so if it had retired earlier, the Xmas boom would have helped immensely. Can´t blame TLG for wanting to keep that for themsleves, though!

Another issue we have in Europe is that Red 5 is still around so neither it nor 9493 are getting the kick from the TFA that they will in the US.

Because people need to create controversy where there is none so they feel that their opinion is important.

Star Wars has it's fan base, DC has it's fan base, Marvel has it's fan base, LEGO has it's fan base.... They're all rabid, they're all growing in numbers and there isn't a damn thing some meaningless opinions on the internet will do about it.

Every day this set stays available, the Death Star looks a safer bet. Lego seem to have done an Exo Suit and churned out a very large run as it´s in the best selling lists of almost all countries.

Considering some inside info that was shared in this topic last week, I expect The Tumbler set to get the Sold Out tag in the European LEGO Shop at Home later this week.

Just wait and see and don't be so pessimistic all the time. :)

The joker certainly doesn't hurt this set but I wouldn't say it carries it. Its just overall a great set from a popular theme and that is what will drive its value moving forward.

Absolutely, I think my next pick up after the 2 DS I'm picking up tomorrow will be another one of these.

That and the Slave I!
