Is this just a UK phenomenon now with Smyth's either receiving stock or shifting around their unsold stock from Ireland etc. Not seeing any posts regarding other European or US stockists finding Tumblers down the back of the sofa after its 'faux retirement' in the same way.

Eitherway, bumping the price up above rrp is poor form and may mean a few sit on the shelves whilst buyers wait for a true EOL reduction in the vein of other Smyth's clearance lego sets. I know I am having already secured a few at below rrp in the initial retirement wave.

How have they not sold out already? Has Lego & Smyths truly defeated the hoard.

I know this set isn't supposed to be hoarded in the grand scheme of things, but they keep appearing and investors keep snapping them up.

Maybe Smyths are the new corporate hoarders, and are now reselling their Tumbler stock at a slight premium to beat out all the other resellers :)

How are things in Portugal?

My crystal ball doesn´t have that much range, but in Spain it is pretty hard to find now - if not impossible. I walked away from the last ones I saw in January when it became clear what Lego had been up to.

You didn't get the reference so.

Stop lumping us in with the UK, just left  an Irish Smyths which had about a dozen Tumblers on their shelves still.

Well the last time I caught them on Smyths for home delivery they were only available for 14 minutes.

Today they're still available after first being reported by BarrySola earlier.

The way their stock has fluctuated, while remaining constant in Northern Ireland and - bizarrely - Telford, this doesn't have the appearance of a few stray cases found during a stocktake - they clearly have serious numbers of these things.

Question is, is it existing stock that's being drip-dripped for some tactical reason, or are they still being supplied by an outside source that have boatloads of the things?

My concern is that it was retired early but produced in the kinds of numbers a set due to be retired December 2016 might have been.

Was in my local Smyth's on Saturday. There was at least 10 on the shelves. If I had the funds, I may have been tempted but not without a discount,

Since some retailers want to get rid asap to create shelf space, did you actually ask to speak to the manager and politely ask for a discount?  I did this in the Reading (UK) branch for another set, expected a "No" and was pleasantly surprised, I basically had 20 for the price of 17. What you don't ask for, you don't get ;-)

I would love to try that, but funds are low, I have a wedding in Italy to go to and a few substantial bills in the coming months, so being careful with my money atm

Why is that smyths has all these?  There are none in the US.

Superheroes aren't as popular here, apparently.

Or maybe because karma, as US buyers seem to catch all the other breaks - cheaper RRP, regualar clearance sales, coupons, membership discounts, free shipping ect.

We have all these Tumblers, but no-one to sell them to. We can't even catch a break with karma! :mda:

I don't know about you, but my market's not Ireland, if it was I wouldn't be doing this very long. The world's a lot smaller than it used to be.

I'm still hesitant about getting scammed by buyers through ebay. Although the likelihood is probably small, getting taken by a crooked buyer for a Tumbler currently at such small margins after fees would hurt.

It's a big smaller scary world out there! lol

It'll be a different story two years from now. i wouldn't be looking to sell now anyway. Smyths will either run out soon enough or sell them at a sale price to get rid. Win win either way. Bottom line is they're not being made any more.

They're not running out any time soon, I was in three stores today (yes I have a problem) and there were probably 25-30 sets across those stores.
