The Irish stores have seemed to have Tumbler stock non-stop for the last few weeks whilst everywhere else has been depleted apart from occasional deliveries of several at a time. Why someone in Ireland hasn't been buying these and knocking them out constantly for £30-£40 profit I don't know. If that Londonderry store was in England they would all have been gone by now.

Knocking them out to who? People in Ireland can still buy them in Smyths at RRP. Normally a lot of our sales would be to UK customers, but until the Tumbler stock dries up in the UK, we've no-one to sell to. People in the UK are selling them for £30-£40 profit and we can't compete with that right now, as our shipping is more expensive, as it's all overseas shipping.

Fair do's, I expected that there would be a little bit of profit to make but obviously not enough to make it worth it as you have enlightened me. I havn't been watching the exact selling prices to be honest as my 9 are staying in the loft for a good while anyway.

To be fair there is plenty of stock in Smyths in Northern Ireland at £159.99, eBay price is circa £220. Postage to the UK is domestic not international (Londonderry is in NI by the way). If I didn't have a job that took me away from home during the week I'd be churning these like you wouldn't believe but weekends aren't for TV watching while packaging Lego so I'm not bothered.

Yes. Try not to display it on a slant or within range of curious children (or cats).

So true. Tumbler is not to be touched. Even if you breath on it hard several pieces may fall off.

It's not that bad!!!

From my hands on experience, it it very fragile.  Something was always falling off when the kids pushed it around or the wife bumped into it (mainly the sides).

Well, I was exaggerating slightly for comic effect but it is very fragile. Touching anything on the top or sides will likely result in something falling off.

Buy Tumblers if you can still get them, stash them away for a year or two and then see about selling them. That's what I'm planning on. I'm in a didferent market in the USA and the Netherlands vs UK, but my strategy is still long term hold which I think still pays off well if done right.

The heated interest, activity, qffl vs lt hold debates, emotions expressed on this board remind me of the RI board from a yr ago.  Great read.

p.s. - Just to be clear: Not comparing Tumbler to RI, just the message boards... and only wishing for a better result (I rode 10 RI sets all the way up & down..).

Please do not be offended by this position.  Thank you.

Build it. It's a great build and looks awesome!

Yep.  I purposely bought a pre-owned one for building last yr (saved money) and plan on keeping my NISB stash sealed for selling down the road.   When it does come time to sell, I will offer a discount for those who buy it w/o the huge Lego box.  I just wanna throw the sealed bags and manual into a smaller box to make packing faster and easier.

Do you wait until you lick every piece before you decide to sell your pre-owned stuff?

Your post went over my head :(

We just usually keep our pre-owned stuff for us.  You sell quite a few of these collectible sets, so you either get your fill, like the profit, free up space, or move on to the next thing.

This is a bit off topic, I apologize ( I did search for the info but came up empty handed, and I see you folks talking about boxes a few posts eariler )   - its a box question.  Is there any reason or benefit  to keep the original empty  Lego box (of any set) if you are keeping the build, and not planning on selling it down the road.   Should you cut out the barcodes before dumping the box?  < any benefit?      Thank you,  - happy Saturday folks.  pp

It's always a good idea to keep boxes if you can as they do add value. Now you say you have no intention of selling it down the road, but anything can happen in life. Something may happen such as losing your job or needing some money quickly. Perhaps now you may say there is no way you would sell them, but might be best to keep the boxes etc just in case.

Unless of course you are minted in which case dump them! :)

You can always flat pack the boxes if space is a premium. A slightly creased box can be better than no box at all. Plus if you state the box is flat packed it is way cheaper to post it that way. Just a thought.
