I still don't get the box issues. These aren't baseball cards.  As long as it's not smashed and or rips in the box I see no problem.

To me it's if I am purchasing something new online I expect it to arrive in new condition as if I purchased off the shelf at retail.  The two boxes I have received damaged over the past week were obviously due to inadequate/improper packing.  A couple air bubble packing on each end would most likely have prevented any damage at all.

Man you guys have way too much money if you're still deal-starved.

I am so tapped out it's not even funny.

Well, not so tapped out i won't pick up some retired Architecture sets with Gift card and 10% member discount at B&N,,,,,,,,but i mean, i can't NOT buy them right?

:)

Well I learned (by failure) that you should not miss the Q4.  I came out of the dark ages last June and got burnt out in November from deal hunting.  I was away from the site for 45 days and didn't get to pick up any Tumblers, Sea Cows or other nice sets.  Also my storage room was nearing capacity and I had other stuff going on so I missed out on selling all those nice sets I accumulated for a nice profit during the holidays (still sitting on all my holiday trains - never even made it to Gingerbread).

So if you want a plump wallet just stay away from BP :P.

I also promised the wifey I wasn't going to buy anything until I got a new job (unemployed since October) and cleaned out some junk.  I want to get a few raffle tickets for St Paul's school - just need to find a prepaid card to hide the purchase from the wifey.

Only one tumbler purchased outside of Lego store/LEGO Shop at Home, came from target but is in great condition. I do want perfect/mint boxes so I can minimize reasons for returns in the future when I'm ready to resell.

.....but at this time....id keep any tumbler

All my amazon tumblers came in crisp, even though packaging stunk.  I bought well in advance of the rush though.  Nearly all of my target tumblers were thrashed.  I sent most back and get better ones.  I'm glad I stacked up on these.  Will make good trade bait someday.

Box snobs. You sell enough, you'll deal with them at some point.

Still with the boxes?? I get that a lot of you just got into the hobby and loaded up on tumblers, but there HAS to be other ways to spend your time than talking quality control. Lots of other great threads to check out here at BP.  Diversify!

As long as they stop selling them over here in the UK after this Smyths run is over in a week or so (hopefully) I think we're gonna be all good over here. My only worry is if they for some reason do another production run or something and release another load into the market given the recent 'interest' in them post retirement. Barring that, It should be a real winner I reckon :)

I put all three of mine onto eBay for £220, ending tomorrow. Simple reasoning: eBay gave me a special commission offer of £3 per sale, so even with postage and packaging I'll still be up £40 per set (=25%) before I have to pay the credit card bill for them and there's still the slim chance I can replace them. If they don't sell I guess I'll wait for another eBay offer.

Carry trades (sort of) on Tumblers!

Dear ....

We apologize for the delays and cancellation of some of your orders. But we have good news: Due to high demand and some complaints from bulk buyers, we have decided to extend the life of this popular set for another year. Our new batch is expected to arrive in March.. Blah blah....

Is that true??
lego will say like this??

120+ ebay listings for Tumblers in the UK. Guess a lot of people don't have the patience to play the long game and are trying to cash in ASAP.

All the better.

And selling at about 1.5 a day.

Wonder how long before the credit card bills come in and the BIN price falls further.  These people don’t even have the sense to wait until the SW hype has died down a little and Batman is back on the big screen.

+25% in ten days doesn't sound like a bad deal for me, if they don't sell I can afford the credit card bill so not worried

Before tax, I assume?

Your call, but it’s such a massive waste of value.

After tax :) Maybe in a year's time I could get +100% if I hold them for 36 times as long...

Not dissing your strategy, but it just doesn't boil down to simple numbers like those. There is more work involved in making less per set...

Smyths?

Yep Smyths. They'd had a massive restock when I went for my Tumblers earlier in the week. He didn't think they'd get more - guess he was wrong.

Weird that this store has had two batches in stock now, when some of the others haven't even had one.

Suspect those Tumblers at Sheffield are gone - placed a click and collect order for two more and it just got cancelled. Which is odd - as the click and collect option is still online.

Actually it seems one of my orders went through and one got cancelled - guess I got the last one.
