Of the 6 I ordered from Target over the past week, 4 had light shelf wear, 1 box had opened seals (contents were fine) and one had a crushed box (missing a tire).

I emailed Target to ask for a discount on the crushed Tumbler.  I can understand some box damage on sets as bulky as these, but when fist-sized parts are missing---sorry, Target, that's on you.

AM i the only one to have a feelings they might release this year or even this summer a new batman UCS? A new ucs batmobile for the new movie.. it would be a nice move from lego no? Maybe Dc wanted lego to do this, and discontinued the tumbler for that reason. I might sound funny but who really knows...   just saying, that about all the DC sets came to EOL, now the DC super heroes only a few sets to offer, nothing big except jokerland...  and the new batcave... new batcave replacing tumbler? i don't beleive it, all the other sets EOL at same time? it's all about franchise.... pretty sur

Hey all,
First post here but have been lurking in the shadows since early December - belated thanks to all for the great advice so far.
I have an opportunity to sell one of these at $590AUD with my $330AUD buy in (full retail) aka $260 profit no tax no fees.
What are the bets this one will do better than double do you think? Should I free up the space or am I being a little too trigger happy?
I got into the game thinking I would only do long term but after selling a few 75105 MFs at $270AUD with $150AUD buy ins I've been liking the flip opportunities too (I work in a toy department and get staff discount on top of any sales, muhahah). Please feel free to ask Qs that the general public would get access too as well!
Cheers :derisive:

Mine came in a box without a hair to spare between the edge of the lego set and the packaging box. I had to rip the edges just to get it out without putting too much pressure on the sides of the set. A little rough around the edges but not too bad. Seal code was 34r5.

My target one just came this same exact way. Same seal.

It may just be a case that this tumbler has too many uncommon parts and a bloody hassle to produce. Hence the company decided to make a final big batch, then stick retiring soon label to quickly clear off shelf space. 2 to 3 years worth of goods sold in 2 months. Company is happy to maximise profits, and hoarders are happy thinking that they got a rare UCS set that retired prematurely.

In comparison, SW is so easy. Lots of grey pieces that can be used across the entire range of sets.

I would give that serious consideration, especially if you have more than one. A rough estimate of $50 to ship your Tumbler means that you need a buyer on eBay to pay $725 for you to clear $590. I don't know eBay Australia sales numbers but a quick 80% profit and no worries about returns or shipping is fantastic.

Welcome to the forums, there's  few of us Aussies kicking around here.

So if you can sell one of these for $590, do it straight away and then buy another one on Ebay for $475 shipped... you've just made $115 and still have your Tumbler.

That would be a good sale if someone really buy it from you for Aud $590. I have seen it on ebay for $450 etc. Based on your buy in, you are up for a bit of profit. I am also in Australia, is there such a rich buyer around? ?

Same here, I ordered 2x last friday from Target right before they sold out, no packing material at all. But the boxes were in fairly good shape.

My feeling is that even if they did, it would only enhance the value of this set. This is similar to the Star Wars sets. Most AFOL's in the Batman arena will like Batman in all of his forms, 60's included. They will want all of these sets and this version of the Batmobile is iconic. It was the valiant return of the superhero movie and the start of all the long string of recent superhero movies.

My personal opinion is that I hope they do. Personally, I will display them both side by side with the 60's batmobile hopefully on the way.

Agreed. In fact, if the new movie is a disappointment—and I suspect it might be—the Tumbler will do even better. Nostalgia and that sense of "Damn, I missed the boat on the good version" will kick in. It'll be like what happened with the Star Wars prequels—the movies were so bad that it made people long for the originals.

Off topic but i finally finished building my copy of 7784.  Absolutely amazing model!

In a couple of years time its going to be the late 20/early 30 y/o who grew up with the Dark Knight as their batman. They're going to be the new AFOLS with the ca$h to burn.  The tumbler is one of those sets that has the wow factor that will attract people who have no interest in Lego but want THAT model just to display (IMO).

Maybe I'm a little too high on this set.... but it is awesome :) (and failing it doing well has some pretty decent parts for Moc'ers)

Are you able to point me to a solution for finishing 7784? I can NOT make out the black blog areas with the instructions online. Is there another option? Thanks in advance.

I've sold a couple of open box, sealed bag sets for the same price or a little less than market values. Given the current value of Tumblers, I'd say keep it.

i had the same issue 2 of 3 were good condition. definitely keepers.   the 3rd kinda beat up, open a bit on the side and with a small whole.  i haven't open completely to check.  i'm thinking about returning it or keep and build one. but i'm afraid if i do return it i'll have to pay more to get another one. lolz what to do?

I don't know how to ask this without sounding confrontational, so please don't take it that way. Can you let us know what led you to drop $600 dollars on something you've never "played" with?  I'm trying to understand the mindframe some people are entering the investment game with.

In either case, welcome and make sure to read as much as possible. There is a ton of useful information here that will help you on your journey.

MODS feel free to move this to the bubble thread or any other appropriate thread.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the "easily 2K by Christmas 2016" comments...

My from Target came with many creases, loosened seals and a huge dented corner.  But, Im still keeping it.

I know this is probably beating is dead horse (impending gifs coming) but the goal is that you will be selling these to to consumers who intend to BUILD the sets, not stare at the boxes. As long as you can prove (photos help) that all contents are included, and fully disclose the condition of the box, you should not have to worry too much about the set selling, and at practically, if not, the same price as mint.

Are there going to be exceptions? Sure. Some people are just condition-crazy. But a vast majority are looking to buy to build, so you should be fine.
