I have two coming from Barnes, here's a question...

Is there any value in leaving it sealed within the Lego carton?

the tumblers come two to a shipping box.  have not heard of many getting them in the original boxes however.  since its two per box the only real value of the box is for extra protection in storage.  sets like DS that come one to a box, I would still not put any value on it other than the fact you can ship it double boxed with no additional cost.

I wouldn't recommend shipping something when you don't even know for sure what's in the box, or what condition it's in.

Any Lego sets you get that are in a Lego Carton you should always open and check the condition of the Lego box, Next time you go to the Lego store check the condition of the boxes on the shelf there are alot of not mint boxes, some have small and major creases, etc. And all the sets came in a Lego Carton, even if you can get a carton at the Lego store you should open it there.

Target has been terrible for me with this set.  I ordered 7 over the last month between their website and eBay and they have shipped from different warehouses.  Only 2 of them arrived in acceptable condition.  The others had a combination of popped seals, heavy creasing, and tears in the box.  I wouldn't fault UPS/Fedex either as even the ones that were well packed and had shipping boxes in good condition were still damaged upon arrival.  On the other hand my Barnes and Noble and Amazon orders arrived in great shape.  Plus the one I picked out at the LEGO store.

From my experience any sets that have been shipped in an official Lego box have come in pristine condition, Sets on shelves in Lego stores have been at the mercy of kids who don't treat items with the same regard. I would not expect sets delivered in an official box to be packed from a shop floor shelf.

My Target order came in good shape. a small crease in the top left corner, not very noticeable. The seals are in tact. Although I am kind of questioning the seals on this set. I usually see the big circle seals on most Lego, but this one was more like tape strips with a black square or rectangle in the middle of them. Just curious what everybody's seals looked like...

If I'm a buyer I'd like pics of the Lego set box and would love to have it in original lego shipping box.  I would be willing to spend 10 or 20 dollars more for a large set shipped  with it.  Just my preference.  Either way the set would have to be pristine with the original box.  I'd pay less for a box that is damaged, even if it came with the original shipping box.

It's a smaller world than we think. Most of these damaged sets are probably nothing more than reseller returns constantly doing the rounds

This is my recommendation to every new investor rushing to the scene:

Imagine a world without BrickPicker. One where people make simple decisions on their own.  In this world, one would choose which sets to buy and when to sell them, without help.  Are you going to make the right decision every time?  No, but you aren't going to anyway. But what you will have every time is more experience.  The people who have been the most successful at this had nobody to ask for help. Nobody to tell them how to do everything.  You'll be far better off in the long run if you don't let the majority make your decisions for you.

Not to mention the more you read, the more you realize a large chunk of those here giving advice have no clue what they are talking about.

Did you get tax by the government?

Nope. It was less than $400 Singapore dollars. Anything above gets taxed.

The Tumbler came in its original lego shipping box, but there was only 1 Tumbler per box. The rest of the space was filled with air pillows. I guess I still have UPS to thank for the good handling of the boxes. A clumsy handler could easily have dropped the box on the floor, which would have dented the edges regardless of whether there were air pillows or not.

Yea me too. My 2 Tumblers (and the EV before it) from Target were both crammed into a shipping box basically the same dimensions as the Tumbler box, with no padding, so there was some box creasing in a couple of the corners. Not as bad as some of the photos on here, so I'm unlikely to return. Just curious also as to what you guys mean by "popped seals"...is it literally that they have come completely unstuck from the box? The seals on one of my Tumblers are fairly loose, like they have lost some of their tackiness. Would this constitute as being popped?

You've got a better chance of winning Powerball tonight then finding a reliable shipper that will deliver your sets in mint condition.  It's all a crap shoot. Buying local at the Lego B&M is the only way to assure minty boxes.

on top of that the UPS guy dropped these boxes in melted snow so they were all wet/soggy. the ewok village sealed was came off because of the wetness. so far ebay shipper and amazon has been good to me. my target orders should be coming in two days. hope it'll be better...for sure i won't be ordering from walmart again...but i would buy them in our local stores.

Walmart delivery scheduled for today and am crossing my fingers that my tumbler will be boxed.  Does walmart.com offer price adjustments like target and amazon?

Walmart doesn't always ship poorly, it's the luck of the draw.  And orders from Target may come in boxes that would fit a herd of elephants.

were you products damaged? I hope not

Haha one of mine came like that. It was probably a 4 foot long box x 2 ft x 1 foot, with not a single piece of packing material included inside. I did LOL when I opened it. Got lucky that the box somehow was in decent shape.
