Jeff Mack Posted August 26, 2015 Posted August 26, 2015 Just wanted to say thanks for not having to "follow" the Daily Deals forum everyday...That's good, it's been working out. A number of members have given feedback that they like that they are not "missing" out on things by having to subscribe everyday. In a few days I will be beta testing a new feature here on the site that should really help out with Daily Deals as well. 1 Quote

I mean how to play Youtube video on this site.It should be somewhere, right? The current forum system likes to automatically embed YouTube links meaning if you paste a direct link or use the shortened one to "Share" into a post then the system should create that video into your post. It isn't always consistent though and sometimes has problems when trying to do so after quoting another person I've noticed. Also some clips have been set not allowed to be embedded by the content's original creator. Quote

This is the post that I've tried to embed. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/14349-21303-wall-e/?do=findComment&comment=491182 So, it might be one of the inconsistency you're mentioning. Quote

I took a look at the post and the video link used. It seems trying to use the "Embed" link YouTube provides doesn't go well with the forum system here. Instead I just used the direct page link and that embedded into your post as intended. Quote
Alpinemaps Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Okay here's one that stumps me twice a year in the desktop version of the site.I know there's a way to tell the forum what subs you want to subscribe to in your "new content" search. But I can't remember where this functionality is. If I wanted to add the Chima forum back into my search I just can't do it! Lol Quote

Since there was no video screen after pasting the regular link, I tried to use the embedded link. But as you know, the whole showed up, so I deleted html code. I can see the video screen now. Maybe it takes sometime to change the link into the embedded video. Quote
MarleyMoose Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 I'm getting double august numbers on some of my brickfolio items. My brickfolio says I have double the month value of Hogwarts set 4867 for instance. While I have 6 NIB it's saying I have a value of 12 NIB. Just thought I'd give a heads up. Quote
Guest Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 On the mobile site, not the app but the actual mobile site on phone browser, there is a menu button on top right. How do you close that menu window? The only way I have found is to select something from it. But sometimes I open it on accident since it is right next to the search button and the only way to get out is select something or hit back Quote

Is there a little sliver of the website still visible on the left when you open it? On my iPhone 5, If you touch in that small space the menu disappears. Not a lot of room to work though. Quote

I know it's there, I just can't figure out how to toggle...help me Obi-Wan Kenobi! Are you asking about how to subscribe to a thread you are currently not subscribed too? Or just to view new content for threads you are subscribed too? Or to subscribe to a thread that appears in the New Content activity list, directly from that list? 1) subscribe to threads or forums by clicking on the "Following" drop-down when you've opened a thread or when you've navigated to the subforum you want to follow. 2) Display content for only subscribed threads.. choose the "Content I Follow" option on the left. 3) Subscribe to a thread or subforum from the new content list.... sorry, I don't think you can do that. Or did I completely miss? If so, sorry about that. Quote
Alpinemaps Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I don't think I explained it well enough, so I'll give it a try. I think you're mostly on target to the way I explained it, which tells me I screwed up. lolThis might be something from the last iteration of the board software, I'm not sure. But, here's the deal. It doesn't have anything to do with following threads (or even subforums). But, I remember there was a configuration menu somewhere, that will allow me to select which subforums would appear when I did a "New Content" search. So, for example, I could tell the forum that when I do a search for "New Content" I want to see any new posts in "United States" sub in "Local Area LEGO Deals" but I don't want to see new posts in the UK, Asia, Australia, Canada, or Europe. I don't care about Dino or Bionicle, so I don't have any new posts in those forums show up in my "New Content" search either.Did that make sense? Quote

On the iPad version, in web view, I can filter results by forum and select all the forums I want to see... Thereby excluding UK, Asia, Bionicle, etc.... (You didn't really mean to add Canada .. I know that). Must exist on the desktop somehow. Quote

On the New Content page, you can "Filter Results by Forum" on the left. Open the drop-down, choose ALL the forums you want to display, then close the drop-down and it will apply the filter. Looks like it remembers the list from visit to visit too. If you click on one of the filtered forum bubbles (blue w/white letters) it'll quickly zip you to that section in the drop-down. Is _that_ what you're looking for? Quote
Alpinemaps Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 This might have been mentioned before, so I apologize if it has.On the mobile app, tables don't come through. There was a table in a PM this afternoon that didn't come through (Jeff, you posted it to that PM today). Another example is the polybag thread - I generate a table monthly and post it to that thread (via desktop browser), but it doesn't appear on the mobile version.I'm guessing it's a bug in the mobile app, and not anything you guys can do about it, but I wanted to throw it out there in case you were not aware. Grynn Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Back in June, over in the "What LEGO to BUY or SELL" thread, we had a nice little discussion about CAGR, mainly by theme, and the potential part that free shipping along with other factors played in the situation. It hasn't every really left my mind, so before I dig in and do some grueling manual analysis, I just want to ask: What would it take to implement one or more of the following:1. Monthly sales data for each set listed able to be broken down into those with free shipping and those without. I assume here that compiling the actual shipping charges in any meaningful way would be a nightmare, but if not, that would be extremely informative as well. 2. A "tag" system similar to what Brickset has, tied to a variable "CAGR by Theme" type page which simply grabs all the sets in the database which carry the tag selected and averages (or even individually displays) them. Example: "Vader" as a tag should show up on, and therefore pull for analysis, any set with a minifigure in Vader form. "Polybag - no figs", "Helicopter", "Thanksgiving", "Maxi-Figure", "Long Life Span"... the tag possibilities are endless. 3. Some way for us to create our own "custom themes" to view the CAGR. For instance, I may want to find the overall CAGR of the sets that are constantly remade such as X-Wing, MF, TIE Fighter, ISD, AT-AT, etc... then trim the list and look at only the originals, but grouped together.Failing that, perhaps an option, when viewing CAGR by theme, to select only certain year ranges. This alone would be pretty awesome, actually. Quote
Robb Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 May I suggest a sister thread of the "Daily Deals Thread" in which the mods agressivly delete non-deals and expired deals. Something like "Daily Deals Lite, just the deals". If someone posted to either it would appear on both and then a mod would delete it from the lite page when it's identified as a non-active deal. Duplicate deals could be deleted too. Quote
Pedilego Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 In November my wife and I are visiting Australia and New Zealand and that got me thinking: maybe there should be some kind of travel/rest-of-world thread (unless I just haven't seen where this type of thing should be posted). If I have time, I'd like to check out some stores where I'm travelling. Ideally I'd look in that thread to know where to try find. But if not, perhaps I'll find some good deals venturing around on my own. In this theoretical thread, I'd then be able to say things like "Hey, found some really good deals on some older sets at this shop in Queenstown, NZ. Couldn't buy that much because of customs so if you're in the area by lifestyle or travel, you guys should check it out." 1 Quote

Just like a regular investment portfolio, it's a summary of what you own, not what you want to own. Quote
