How are you visiting the forum threads? I posted earlier today about how you can go to the "first unread post" from the forum views. Also, have you tried the "New Content" option up at the top on the right (or the "star" in the mobile friendly website view)? Those are the options I'm now using for viewing new content...

Thank you for pointing out the "star" in mobile view. Using the 'activity stream' navigation option was driving me crazy!

Well for right now I don't have any answers.  I will have to share this with the developers of the forum and let them look it over and compare it to backup tables.

It looks like images previously uploaded to the site are missing or mis-linked. I was browsing some old pages in the Building sub forum, and hardly any of the images from posts 2 years ago were there. Lots of aforementioned truncated posts too.

On another unrelated note, I've had Safari crash to dashboard on both the iPad and my iPhone. No explanation. Is there an easy way to capture the crash report? Would this even be useful? It's sporadic and fairly infrequent, but only seems to occur when browsing these boards. Edit: Contrary to some other members statements, I'm pretty sure I'm using the desktop version of the site in Safari on the iPad.

Cheers for being such excellent admins, keep up this great work!

Just a note that the front page of "brickpicker.com" is not updating the recent posts section but the community.brickpicker.com is.

My observation is that is it updating, but the "time" is not. Your post to the main page was shown but said it was "5 hours ago" which is clearly not the case. :)
* Edit... or it's not so simple. New topics don't seem to show up. Only topics that were showing up 5 hours ago seem to be cycling through the list. Ah well, Jeff will figure it out. In the mean time, I recommend this: http://community.brickpicker.com/new-content/ *

I am not sure if anyone else has notice this. Lots of old forum threads seems to be truncated/missing contents which is very confusing. Was there a problem with the porting? Is there a way of restoring this original content?

I too noticed some of the old posts such as one of mine from the Jurassic World 2015 topic where I had posted official set images with descriptions was cut off less than halfway through. I can only surmise the conversion process did not like any post containing more than a certain amount of characters so it cut them off at the max limit (assuming there even was one). It has happened before and an unfortunate side effect with keeping up to date in this ever-changing cyberworld.

Is there any easy way to search for old topics such as "My Order Status" while we wait for the forum upgrade to complete?  I used the quick search so often before that now I have no clue how to hunt and peck for topics under the forum hierarchy.

The search function in old topics is not working right now... Jeff knows about it (I've certainly told him enough times now) and I'm sure it's on his list of things to look at. One of the background tasks was "Reindexing Posts" but I don't know if it is completed or running or what.

I am probably just missing it but when you are reading a post and someone gives a set number you are unfamiliar with you used to be able to type it into a box in the upper left corner to see the set name without having to leave the thread. Anyway to do this now?

thanks

That's the bottom line...One step at a time.  The upgrade was required by the forum developer and many of the people with the add ons and apps are catching up.  Google is also requiring all sites to be mobile friendly by this week I believe, or you will be punished by their search engines.  This forum template still has some quirks and the developer knows it, but we have no other choice but to deal with it.

I'm sure over the next several weeks we will implement many of the old features that were made specifically for the old forum.  The custom developers are working on some stuff for us right now and Jeff is in contact with Tap Talk, so hopefully they can come up with a new version.  Honestly, they have to because the old forum version will lose support shortly.  While I like the new mobile version, the Tap Talk was simple and effective and I would welcome it back as well.

I didn't realize how much I relied on the Brickpicker app until it was gone. The app made it quick and easy to post on-the-fly from inside a Target, Walmart, or Lego Store, which I got a real kick out of. For me, it was also the easiest way to scan recent posts. I know there will be a wait for a new BP app. I just wanted to drop a note of support for an updated app, and say thank you to the developers of the app; I've gotten a lot of use out of it.

Just an FYI, probably a low priority but the email notifications on threads are not being sent out regularly (I would say I only get about 20% of the ones I should). I come back to forum and look at threads and a lot have replies where I am subscribed but I received no emails.

You might want to try going into a few of the threads that you think you are not getting notifications from and make sure that it still has you has following that thread.  Maybe just click it to reset it again.  Who knows during the upgrade if it switched any of the indicators.  I can see emails going out though.

Yes I check back all the time on those and it still has me subscribed. Some I wasn't and turned them back on. The DD threads are something I almost never get notices on now. Occassionally one will come through. It just seems random. I haven't tried unsubscribing and resubbing so I will do that, but on DD I have to sub every day and it still happens.

One buggy thing I've noted.  I inserted a local image into a post several days ago.  Every time I edit any post, it reinserts that same image.  It's included in the post as "uploaded image", but it's from the post from several days ago, not any recent posts.  I can go in and delete it, but it's weird that it's including the image in non-related posts.

App is still being updated to the new forum templates/version. Looks like it may be another week or two before we see it updated in the App Store. For now, yes, web browser is the only way to access forums.

Need Greg to help convince the BIG BOSS over here ! .. Wouldn't be nice to have a simple BUTTON : add brickfolio item ..right on each page in the price guide Top right corner of each page! .. ???

I moved your request to the site improvements thread... I do believe I've seen that request a few times. I know Jeff has been working on a brickfolio update (he's always working on something BP related) so we'll just stick this here and see what he says. :)

Posted this last week, appears to have been overlooked. My iPhone is still crashing safari on many threads here. I get a vague error stating 'The page was reloaded because Safari encountered a problem.'. This happens repeatedly until it gives up. I then have to manually edit the url to remove the linked topic to get back to home page. It seems to happen on image heavy pages of threads (sometimes it's just a specific page of a thread, for example I can't successfully load the current page of DO thread). Just me, or is this a known bug?

Topic notification emails are sporadic and delayed.  The delay isn't a huge deal for most threads, but it can be for the Daily Deals.  A 30-minute delay means the good deals are usually gone by the time the email rolls in.  I'm opting out until the email situation is resolved.

Not overlooked, just discussed elsewhere ... and I can't seem to find that post right now. But the short answer is yeah, it's happening all over the place. Jeff has notified the support team for the forum (remember he purchases the software and customizes it) of the issue and I personally have given him some examples of threads that it happens over and over with. He's working on it with them but he's at their mercy with respect to fixing it.

Seems the forum developer needed to spend a little extra QA time on the mobile view than they did.
