kevochan Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Made my first purchase today of lego to hold and sell after EOL or to flip quickly havent decided yet. Only very very new to lego investing/forums/blogs. I bought town square 60026 for Quote
wooble Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 My first buy for resell was one of the modulars. I think it was either Pet shop or Grand Emporium. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the modulars as long as you buy at a discount and keep them for awhile after they are discontinued.. 1 Quote

znjndmawn Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Bought 3 Minecraft sets last Dec '12 and sold them for $55 each. Cuusoo sets are non existent here. Quote
kevochan Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 So you bought it in EU? That's a solid price for a great set. Just a little bit too new for long term. Yeah got it in eu. So will just sell it asap. Quote
Ed Mack Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I bought a MISB Cafe Corner for almost $600 after watching the values of this gaudy and tacky set continue to rise from $300 in a few months. It was then I realized that the Modulars were a fan favorite. 2 Quote
Guest betsy805 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 First new set was a Market Street at a garage sale (got her to sell it to me before her sale started as I was buying used lego from her anyway) for $75. It was that moment right there that I realized that new lego sets hold serious money. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 My first set I ever bought for resell was Dino 5887 for $69. But then I opened it My first set that I actually kept was Vampyre Castles. 3 of them. Still have them along with a hoarde of others. Damn you TRU. 1 Quote
stoltzjl77 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) First sets I bought with no intention of quick-flipping were 2 Grand Emporiums. I have a couple of Live Stars I got just before the no-discounts policy went into effect which are at this point long term investments, even though I wasn't thinking of them as such when I bought them over a year ago. *Sigh*. (It only took a year, but I'm finally at the point where I'm actually investing...next thing you know, I'll be making snide remarks about quick-flipping low lifes LOL) Edited June 9, 2014 by stoltzjl77 2 Quote
cardkid Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 My first set was the LEGO Super Heroes The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape (6857). got it at TRU when they were having buy 1 get 1 50% off. Hopefully TRU will sell out of these at some point. Quote
Sauromosis Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Probably three Kai's Fire Mechs after reading this forum for a couple days in January 2013. Not a wise purchase, but I did score three Imperial Shuttles on discount that month that I still have. Quote
jjsrt8 Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 My very first was sopwith camel found on craiglist got him down to 50 dollars NIB because I bought a Fire Brigade off of him for 235. My second investments 2 Grand Emporiums and now my gfs closet is full of large boxes mostly HH. Quote
Dr. Brick Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 My first investment set was the 10197 and I bought 5 of the first edition ones. I still have 2 of them. I doubt I will ever sell those 1 Quote

naf Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I started out with 2 Vampyre Castles, 2 Funhouses, and 2 GE's. At the time, I was planning on building one, and saving the other to resell later. My stockpile has since grown.... Quote
