dubzero Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 At least the next Idea review sets are cool. Yes indeed. They could make them all and they'd sell well. I hope the Hubble makes it - I'm a sucker for space sets!! Quote
Cbenioff Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Disappointed in the choices. As a real nerd I can't stand Big Bang Theory. The next batch of projects looks promising though Wall-E has to be the odds on favorite. Quote
Thumper Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 bring on ghostbusters headquarters. They can't seem to sell the ambulance so I doubt it's garage is gonna do much better. Quote
DoNotInsertIntoMouth Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Not really liking either of these. Pretty disappointed. 2 Quote
dubzero Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Not really liking either of these. Pretty disappointed. As collectors, I agree. As resellers, I think the BBT set will be extremely popular. The birding community is pretty niche and intense, I wonder how many of them are Lego fans. If that number is significant - this set does well. Quote

(i wonder if a larger set like wayne maner would ever be selected). Not sure if the Birds Project or Big Bang Theory will have huge "retail" demand like previous Ideas / CUUSOO sets. I doubt it but they could both great sleepers in the secondary market (sorta like what RI set has done to-date). Quote

Migration Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 I think the bird will surprise everyone just like RI did. BBT will have a place on my shelf right next to Ecto. Quote
jaisonline Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Is RI a sleeper? yes, major sleeper when it was released. nearly everyone was too busy buying Exo sets.... why else would a $20 set jump to $100 before retirement (note : i think it's closer to $70 now since more arrived at lego stores last month but we can discuss that in the RI thread) . Quote
Thumper Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) Is RI a sleeper? more like an almost done chicken or big bubble like the 41999 was... (It's top dollar now, but will likely be quite ho-hum in the long term once the excitement fades) Edited November 7, 2014 by Thumper Quote
zskid00 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Yeah, I can see the birds being a limited edition set that will fly off the shelves once resellers catch wind that it could be the next RI. I'll be waiting for Ornithologists everywhere to contact LEGO complaining that they can't find this set in stores and then the eventual NYT article which will increase the secondary market prices even more. Darth_Raichu Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Both are kind of meh for my personal collection. I did not get that vibe I got the first time I laid my eyes on RI as far as investment Quote
Migration Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) From watching the video it sounds like they're still trying to work out the licensing for one of the Dr. Who sets so there may be another release this go round. For the next round I think the light sabers and Huble have the best shot. Edited November 7, 2014 by Migration Quote
biniou Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) TBBT... hell YES ! I just hope the minigs will be as good as the ideas project. Edited November 7, 2014 by biniou Quote
Migration Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 TBBT... hell YES ! I jut hope the minigs will be as good as the ideas project. They need to have an episode where Sheldon is building that set, or just have one randomly placed in the apartment. Quote
biniou Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) They need to have an episode where Sheldon is building that set, or just have one randomly placed in the apartment. Ah ah that's what I thought, so it will be some kind of mise en abyme (I'm surprised this french expression does exist in english, like "rendez-vous") Edited November 7, 2014 by biniou Quote
Brickbuilder.g Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 The birds set will be a huge winner - way better investment that the big bang theory set. Quote

I'm a fan of birds and the bird set still doesn't do anything for me They're nicely built and all, but...meh. Quote
zskid00 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 It may not really matter which set is better, but which set is more limited. Quote
trekgate502 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Big Bang Theory? That's a pass on wanting. Birds it is OK. I will sell both but would only consider owning the birds. The next series I hope they come out with most all of them there are some incredible ones. Love the UCS AT AT. Doubt it will happen but want it to. Quote
cvail8 Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 It may not really matter which set is better, but which set is more limited. There's no way they're going to make a Big Bang Theory set and underproduce it. 1 Quote
cdenmier Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Ugh...can't say that I don't like the Birds set completely...it's kind of cool. But really bummed that the BTTF train didn't make it (I guess it all depends on what your nerd fancy is...) Quote
