Who f****** cares?  It's a new Star Wars movie.  I am always baffled by people who let stupid little plot contrivances like some of those above get in the way of their enjoying a movie like TFA.

BTW...an AT-AT would serve the same purpose on a desert planet that it would serve on any other planet...to blow s*** up.  They don't call it an "ALL TERRAIN armored transport" for nothing.

Han captured the Falcon...that was pretty clear from the movie.

There wasn't a giant squid aboard the Falcon, the rathtars (sp?) were aboard the freighter that captured the Falcon.

The castle was also a cantina because Maz has run that watering hole for hundreds of years.

Luke's lightsaber was in the basement of the cantina because Maz has come into its possession some time before then.

etc. etc.

But, at the end of the day, who f****** cares?  It's a new Star Wars movie.  If those sorts of things prevented you from enjoying the movie, I feel very sorry for you.

Like I said.  Entertaining movie.  But dumb.

I know Han captured the Falcon.  Then space pirates show up.  Then a giant squid shows up.  What's the point?  Oh yeah, it's a new Star Wars movie.  Duh.  I stepped out to take a leak during the Star Killer sequence because I already knew what would happen next.

If you're looking for something that's not dumb, stick to the arthouses, foreign language films, and film shot in black and white.  They have a whole lot of "not dumb" in them, but they're often dreadfully boring and not entertaining at all.  Do you really watch Star Wars movies for a high-brow experience?

The funny thing Redcell is that you are taking it personally that we did not enjoy the film as much as you. No one else is swearing because you like the current movie. We are just discussing why we have problems with it... plain and simple.

Try to remember a few sayings from a guy named Yoda about anger and hate. He is not in the current movie so you may need to pull out the bluray.

AND about the AT-AT ...   AC-AT (air-conditioned armored transport)

so you're just happy the movie title had the words "Star" and "Wars" in it, and whatever they put on screen is good?

The Star Wars Holiday Special proved that the SW brand name is not enough lol

So 2 more observations after watching the movie a second time :

- first order snowspeeder does make a 1/2 second appearance right before the doors close as Rey and Finn are reenteting Starkiller base

- as Rey let's the force in as she duel with kylo it is way too reminesnet of Luke to be a coincidence . Going with her being his daughter and Leia showing her an affection as her aunt . Kylo goes bad so Luke is too scared she would follow her cousin's path and leave her to grow up "pure" from the dark side as he awaits .

I thought I read here there or somewhere there is in the art of star wars (a book I have but have not read yet) that there is a snow speeder chase scene on the star killer that was cut from the movie....  That would make complete sense why Lego made a snow speeder but other things happened. :)

I wonder if Harrison Ford is relieved in the notion he won't need to reprise the role of Han Solo anymore unless they plan to have some sort of flashback scene down the road perhaps. Also for the First Order to regain ground after the Empire fell, I imagine in an effort to regain lost forces they came up with some recruitment videos....and they might have looked a little like this. ;)

I was thinking the casting agency already posted a list of returning actors and it includes Harrison ?

Though if he does I am actually quite surprised

I saw that casting sheet, but I think that was provided to the casting agency prior to Episode 7 opening. Would be a huge spoiler if he wasn't including on the Episode 8 sheet prior to E7 coming out.

As far as FO recruitment. Well, we know they took children and raised them to be Stormies from the start. But think about where they are....they've been driven to the Unknown Regions by, what they feel, is an illegitimate government bent on their destruction and the destruction of their way of live. Easy propaganda in the Unknown Regions to get people to believe that they were on the losing side of a righteous cause and need help to regain what is rightfully theirs.

I'm not taking it personally at all...I had nothing to do with the making of the movie and have nothing invested in anyone else liking it other than to the extent that its popularity leads to further SW movies/tv shows/games/etc so whether anyone else liked it or not really doesn't make a difference to me one way or the other.  I am just reacting to the all too predictable phenomenon of people who claim to be big fans of a given media property like SW working really hard to find reasons to dislike that which they otherwise claim to love when confronted with a new iteration of said property.  And I would say that the discussions here have veered a little beyond simple discussions of problems that various people have with it.

As for all the swearing...well, I f****** swear a lot, maybe I swear a s*** load more than the average person, but I don't give a s***...it's just part of my normal patois and used for emphasis more than anything else.

And I know all about anger and hate...my chosen line of work is fraught with conflict and I have worked in it long enough to have developed a good sense of the internal temperature of my blood...on a scale of 1 to 10, this discussion doesn't even come close to a 1...no anger or hate towards the others who seem to have so much anger and hate towards the TFA...just bafflement.

For the sake of the Imperials working in the AT-AT, I hope that the designers thought to incorporate climate control because they never seem to pop up on any planet that has a nice temperate climate (except for the one shot of an AT-AT on Endor in ROTJ).

If you guys hate the movie so much why are you wasting your time talking about it? Serious question because I don't get it.

.... because we like too.

I feel like I just saw the 1977 star wars movie redone for the millennial generation and feel Disney could have, at least,  given us an original story.

An touche... how can everyone say it is a great movie when all it is... is a carbon copy of the original? (I do not get that!)

ALSO the thread is the "Farce Awakens' Discussion"
