I disagree. He's well into retirement age, and the prequels were hardly failures. They're amongst the top grossing films of all time. An entire generation of people including my son grew up with them and for them that is Star Wars and they don't understand why people my age bash them so much. Those movies were never meant to be exactly like the movies you saw when you were 8. How could they be when you're now 40 or whatever. I worry the same thing is going to happen with these new ones. People are going to be expecting it to be exactly like the old movies and are going to be disappointed the moment something unfamiliar appears on screen, and this despite what appears to be a lot of effort to recreate the original movies. The vehicles are the same, the main characters are the same or very similar, there's even well sourced suggestions of a Death Star like weapon. I enjoyed the prequels because they were different. Just Jar Jar was too different. :)

I agree as well. I grew up with the originals but enjoyed the prequels for the spectacle mostly.  Boo on Jar Jar.  I'm going on Thursday 7 pm with my son and without question more excited then I was for the Phantom Menace. I really like what JJ did with the Star Trek reboot.

Please remember to not post TFA film spoilers until at least Friday night. If you feel the need to post spoilers before then, please use PM (or use social media sites like Twitter, Facebook).

While this isn't a forum rule, it is request based on what other members have mentioned. common courtesy...

Thanks.

Well I wouldn't say to run out and use social media, just make sure you use the Spoiler Feature in the toolbar of the editor.  Use the EYE icon

Well I am happy to read that there are a lot of positive vibes about the movie.  I know I am a serious geek when I couldn't stop watching that Red Carpet Event last night. I asked my wife if it was "normal" to have enjoyed something that was actually quite bad.

Speaking of spoilers. About a hundred years ago, my then GF & I were talking to a coworker saying we were going to the movies & then asked what movie. She said she'd seen it & we both said "don't tell us anything." She said "ok but I can't believe it was a dream"...

Must have been "Breakin' 2"?
