I like the trailer before that one more!

But I somehow I love the honest trailer (I posted earlier but well here it is again ^.^ ):

I love how they did it *g* "NOthing will stand in our way. We will fix what you started"

"It's true. All of it. Midichlorians... JarJar... The special editions... They're real. But forget all that! Some new nerd's directing now and this looks awesome! Hey remember those things? TIE-Fighters are still cool right? [...] We could show you two hours of a monkey washing a cab and you'd still go see this movie. ...... ....... Twice."

"Hey guys don't forget the trailers for the phantom menace also were kind of cool" "Don't ruin this for me!"

One question about the hooded Sith, do we know for certain Kylo Ren is a male under there? For what little of the voice is heard, it can sound like a woman's being distorted through a filter. I suppose to me it seems as though whoever is actually under there might be trying too hard to sound so 'manly'.

A certain bun haired princess, maybe? I just find it weird they cast a person who sounds like a member of the British royal family as the rubbish scrounging girl.

Theres definitely some sort of misdirection or a character posing as another.  Kylo almost sounds like Luke telling his own father's old mask that he will finish the goodness that Vader started right before he died.

Maybe Luke kills Kylo and then poses as him?

There's no misdirection.  It's Adam Driver.  We've seen him without his mask on a few times now.  There is zero chance he is actually Luke.

Warning, if you don't want to know major parts of the TFA story, don't read no further. My colleagues and I, all scientists with doctoral degrees in either astronomy or physics and working at a large research institution, had a meeting this Friday to discuss the upcoming events of the force. That's what we found out, and thus I write it in really tiny font:

The movie is a big family reunion. Rey is the daughter of Leia and Han, but grew up in the UK. She is fighting against Kylo. Maybe Kylo is female, as TheOrcKing logically suggested before, and I have the same observation in mind since the first trailer. It would make sense because it would fit the idea of two powerful but opposite women, Rey and Kylo. This will be revealed perhaps in episode 8 or 9. Kylo is Rey's cousin, because Kylo is the kid of Luke. Luke trained her/him as a Jedi. Luke and R2D2 live like hermits on the Dagobah swamp planet similar to Yoda before him; we saw them in trailer #2, just look at Luke's mechanical hand. Kylo's mother died early, perhaps during a brutal killing. So Kylo did experience a similar traumatic event like his grandfather, Anakin/Darth. As we know from the studies by Sigmund Freud et al., childhood traumas can have very damaging consequences. This is why Kylo--same as Anakin--could not resist the dark side, and no hope and no love can reach his/her mind and soul. Kylo constructed her/his self-made lightsaber and wants to finish what his/her grandfather started. Finn is a non-clone storm trooper, and he turns into a Jedi, with a regular blue (like Luke's) lightsaber. It could be that his father is Lando from Bespin, or maybe Finn is much closer related to Rey and Kylo.

That's it for now, please don't hesitate to post your comments and suggestions and we can discuss them at the next meeting:)

Firstly, of course Finn is a non-clone storm trooper.  As far as we know there has never even been a clone storm trooper.  The clones got phased out when they got too old.  They'd be ancient by this time.  Secondly, kylo ren is not a female.  He is Adam Driver.  We have seen him without his mask.  And finn's lightsaber IS Luke's lightsaber.  Also, why the heck does Finn need to be lando's son?  Because he was the only black man in the galaxy?  He'd more likely be a relative of Mace Windu if he is force sensitive but even that would feel forced.  I am sure Rey and Kylo are cousins or even siblings.  Kylo's talking mask in toy stores indicates they know each other.

Good to know that you and your colleagues are all scientists haha (or was that just a gag à la:"The Big Bang Theory Nerd Club"?)

But what has your profession got to do with anything of it? You did have a "meeting" (like TBBT meeting or like with the producers of the movie? ^.^ or rather a serious meeting but you decided to talk about Star Wars... (so again like TBBT!)).

Anyhow, the scientist thing would fit to your nickname here ^.^

So Rey is the daughter of Leia and Han but grew up in the UK... wow... I mean for U.S.Americans the United Kingdom sure is something alienlike, but to place it in a time long long ago in a galaxy far far away is pretty extreme (especially for scientists!!!) *g*

Okay enough with the kidding. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I know there is a function that allows you to post something "hidden" so that other people can decide whether or not they want to see it by clicking on it. The MODs will have to explain because obviously (even though I'm kind of a scientist) I don't have a clue!

Anyhow, I think parts of it sound plausible enough. Lando being the only black human in the universe and stuff... eh I mean not that part! But I'm not too sure if Finn really is force sensitive. Honestly I think it would be cooler if he wasn't. Yeah he is holding a lightsaber alright. But maybe it's just the best thing he's got to defend himself. Heck I would even grap a stone or a squirrel and throw it at him if some freaky dude (yep dude! See posts before!) would approach me with the obvious intention of killing me... (And probably I'd have better chances of fighting him with a lightsaber as well... even though I would use it more like Count Dooku. I mean seriously I bet a lightsaber would be pretty "light" (haha...) so there really is little reason to hold it with two hands instead of holding it like a foil or epée or rapier or... well... saber... I mean in German the translation is "Lightsword" but in english even the name is "lightsaber")

Isn't it great how these movies got us all going? I'm so looking forward to them!
(Found this ^.^ )

So I am just curious.  How did you guys reconcile a moon sized Death Star blowing up did not cause any irreversible damage to the Moon of Endor at the end of RotJ? The whole rebels fleet actually went TO the direction of the moon when the DS blew up.

I know I harp on this all the time, but I'd like to hear real scientists' take on it

Well as we all know the rebels controlled the bunker with the shield generator. The shields together with the thick atmosphere of Endor would probably have been able to absorb the shockwave energy (don't forget the shield generator could shield an entire death star good enough to be inpenetrable for the whole alliance fleet!

Shield generator was blown up
