stephen_rockefeller Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Mine lasted well over 25 years......from age 5 to around age 32. How long did yours last? Quote
@rtisan Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Almost 3 years, in that time and picked up the occasional set, but was not at all serious about doing so. I got back into the hobby seriously about 2 years ago, and have never been going stronger Oh mighty Lego, forgive thou for every leaving you Quote
Huskers1236 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 From about age 13 to 34 when my son was 5 1/2 and got a Plo Koon Starfighter. Oh the dollars that have been spent since then. Quote
leenoack83 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I only came out of my dark ages within the last year or so. In total, it was around 16 or 17 years I suppose. From 12-13 until 29. During which time my Mom convinced me to give all my LEGO to my younger cousins. Who then proceeded to abuse pretty thoroughly until it all melted in a fire a few years ago. Sometimes I wake up in cold sweats thinking about the Black Seas Barracuda, Imperial Flagship, Eldorado Fortress, Mega-Core Magnetizer and pretty much complete Forestmen and Blacktron II collections that I could still have. And those are only the specific sets that I can remember for sure. Quote
iahawks550 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 30 years. Too poor as a kid to have many, now I'm making up for it. 2 Quote
dbroncos59 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I only collected for about 6 months in the 1999-2000 period and then didn't get back into it until 2 years ago. Was pretty much unable to afford Lego sets throughout my childhood so really think I am making up for it by going all out now that I have some money to burn. Quote
Stevenplays Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 0 to 3... Hope to never have a true Dark Age haha! Quote
MartinP Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 0 to 3... Hope to never have a true Dark Age haha! I think mine was 0 to 2. I'm not sure why my parents trusted me with Lego at age 2, but I still have that set. Anyways, I hope that I don't go through a dark age ever in my life. Quote
naf Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I started playing with Lego around 1985, and my dark age was roughly from 1993 to 2012. Interests change when you become a preteen/teenager. Luckily my parents kept my Lego. They sold everything else, I had a pretty sizable GI Joe collection, a few Transformers, and some other random toys. However, they kept the Lego and I reclaimed it a few years ago. They said they saved them because I played with them the most out of any toy I had, although they thought they were saving them for their future grandchildren. They were a bit surprised when I had my childhood sets up on display all over my office My kids will get them eventually, when they're old enough to not destroy my vintage Lego relics. Quote
fredrick_louis Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I started playing Lego when I was about 6-7. Had only one set and one of my friends had a lot more. Lego was hard to find in Malaysia those days, so that was all I had. Moved on to computer games after that. Got back into Lego when my wife gave me a set 4 years ago, so about 29 years. Quote
matt1147 Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 12 years without buying a set at all - age 21-33...but tack on another 4 years for ages 17-21 in college where I only picked up a couple of the early Star Wars sets cause I thought, "hey, that's a cool idea!" Just wish I stuck with it a bit.... Quote
Migration Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Started noticing girls about 1988 and started noticing Lego again about 2010. Quote
TheOrcKing Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Hmm, my 'dark ages' lasted exactly this many. 1 Quote
chinchy Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 About 27-28 years. Last year I was cleaning out my stuff and gave my old Lego (which had been sitting untouched in my old closet in my parent's house) to my kids. I now regret it as everything's all mixed up. And my 2 year old has sucked the faces off almost all of my classic space legos. Mr. red space man, blue space man, yellow space man, and white space man.... I'm so sorry. This was before I realized the investment potential of Legos, which wasn't until this year. Quote
b-ran Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Never had much as a kid, too poor. Got a few when I was maybe 8, then came out of the dark ages at 29, so 21 years. Quote
