IMDeus Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I got my green grocer today. Sealed in box...do I open it??? I thought about holding it til I had everything else that is waiting to be built..built. FIgure, if it goes up in value I can cash in and buy an opened one to build. Why did I buy a sealed on in the first place...good price and impulse buy : Quote
maxgc53 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Sell it and buy a used set for a lot cheaper.. 3 Quote
@rtisan Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Sell it and buy a used set for a lot cheaper.. Definitely! The difference in price is large enough to make it profitable doing so. The current listings for a NISB Grocer are higher than the current Brickfolio value, so assuming you get the current asking price for it then buy a used one, you could get most of your used set purchased paid for by the sale. Don`t open it first! Quote

Why did I buy a sealed on in the first place...good price and impulse buy : We opened an MISB Green Grocer last year for our collection and zero regrets. We paid just over $550 US sealed for it. But I'm a total LEGO snob and rarely buy used sets to build... Can't stand cleaning someone else's dust. 1 Quote

Haha we must have bought around the same time as I paid around $600 US for it sealed for my wife's birthday last year. Quote

jaisonline Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 Sell it and buy a used set for a lot cheaper.. Great advice if you want to build this set. Sent from an iPhone using the Brickpicker app Quote
MartinP Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 If you want to save some money, do what the others have said and sell the one you have and use the profits to buy a used one in good condition. If you want to open the set and build it, go ahead and do it. The decision is up to you. 1 Quote

maxgc53 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Do not keep it. Why tie up money in a set that will have marginal gains at best, when you could stock up on GE's that will appreciate much faster? Quote
IMDeus Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 Has anyone ever bought a new set whose seals were lose? The seals aren't tight Quote
Fcbarcelona101 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Has anyone ever bought a new set whose seals were lose? The seals aren't tight Several times. I usually just open the box and check the contents. Never has had any impact on the selling price. 1 Quote
IMDeus Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 Thank you. I decided not to open this one. Shouldn't I verify contents though? Quote
djim Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Why did you buy it? As stated above, it isn't a great investment at this point, compared to other places you can tie up your money. If you collect sealed sets and keep them that way, it makes sense to keep it sealed. If you bought it to build, just build it. You can obviously afford it. 1 Quote
