....eBay Gets Slammed by Panda 4.0???

Very likely related to decreased traffic: http://searchengineland.com/panda-4-0s-big-loser-ebay-winners-losers-chart-192123

I read another article last week (that I can't find right now) that explains that Ebay uses a lot of "landing pages" which are essentially product searches on their site (which Google considers low content value) coupled with the fact that there are spammy web links to other products on those pages (meant to increase search engine ranking for that term to the page the link directs to).  Last year, Ebay abandoned their paid-search advertising in favor of organic SEO.  They did a study that concluded their PPC campaigns were ineffective, so they abandoned the effort.  Aside from the obvious (that Google wants them to pay for ads), their approach was not at all clean and it is really no surprise that this happened as a result.  They tried to game the Google system and got punished.

The same article claims that the study ebay did where they abandoned paid-search was flawed since all their campaigns were poorly managed (the examples given were pretty bad, so I tend to believe the article's opinion).
