....eBay Gets Slammed by Panda 4.0???

Featured Replies

Very likely related to decreased traffic: http://searchengineland.com/panda-4-0s-big-loser-ebay-winners-losers-chart-192123

I read another article last week (that I can't find right now) that explains that Ebay uses a lot of "landing pages" which are essentially product searches on their site (which Google considers low content value) coupled with the fact that there are spammy web links to other products on those pages (meant to increase search engine ranking for that term to the page the link directs to).  Last year, Ebay abandoned their paid-search advertising in favor of organic SEO.  They did a study that concluded their PPC campaigns were ineffective, so they abandoned the effort.  Aside from the obvious (that Google wants them to pay for ads), their approach was not at all clean and it is really no surprise that this happened as a result.  They tried to game the Google system and got punished.

The same article claims that the study ebay did where they abandoned paid-search was flawed since all their campaigns were poorly managed (the examples given were pretty bad, so I tend to believe the article's opinion).

I've had one of my best months this month on eBay so take that for what it's worth.

Were you mainly selling the Panda Guy from The LEGO Movie CMF ? ;)

Stupid Panda. Now I want fast and fresh Chinese food.

My traffic reports seem to indicate this as well.

However, I have also hit a high in terms of listings too so it could be a coincidence.

May has been way better than April, just like every year since the dinosaurs first invented shopping online. :D

My eBay history begs to differ

ETA: Granted if someone buy xxxx worth of stuffs from my store in the next 3 days, I will happily support your claim :)
